NEWTON — The City of Parks added to its tally on Saturday with the opening of West Newton Community Park.

Families gathered to the free event for a day filled with music, cotton candy, face painting and a cricket demonstration.

Surrey First mayoral candidate Linda Hepner was on site for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The park is located at 13008 59 Avenue and features a full-sized grass cricket pitch, a cricket pavilion with washrooms, an asphalt walking loop, a playground, open grass areas for picnics and a parking lot.
