The Clever Science Puns team from Earl Marriott Secondary (from left, Kenzie Ekkebus, Jacob Leong, Alex Legere, Daniel Hooker and Leon Chen) watch their battery powered blimp during the Blimp Challenge at the 2015 Surrey Junior Science Challenge at Enver Creek Secondary Tuesday (April 21).

The goal of the event is to inspire future scientists in Grades 8 and 9 to be creative and innovative – and have fun doing it.

The blimp challenge had teams build a lighter-than-air airship and fly it through a series of scoring gates.
