This summer, be creative, have some fun and win Cash prizes. Enter a short story, poem, or comic in Surrey Libraries’ Young Adult Writing Contest.

Cash prizes will be awarded per category and age group. The contest is open to ages 12 to 18 years. Entries must be in by Aug. 4. Entries are free. Rules and forms are available at www.surreylibraries.ca/teens.

If you want to improve your writing, share your creativity or just like to be around fellow writers, sign up for any of these free teen programs:

• Teen Writers’ Camp - Tuesdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29 from 1-3:30 p.m. at City Centre Library. Four weekly sessions with amazing authors and illustrators. Register: 604-598-7427 or trhockin@surrey.ca;

• Teen Writers’ Intensive - Fridays, July 11, 18, 25 and Aug 1, from 2-3 p.m. at Fleetwood Library. Improve your writing skills. Register: 604-598-7347.

• Teen Writers' Open Mic -  Sat. Aug 2, 1-3:15 p.m. at Ocean Park Library. Share your original work in this friendly, no-contest, open mic party. Register: 604-502-6449 or lagawthrop@surrey.ca
