‘Tis the season for giving: White Rock Elks donate $8,000 to community groups

Salvation Army, Sources food bank among recent recipients

The White Rock Elks were busy doing some giving before the holidays.

The organization’s goal is to support youth and community, and its members fundraises throughout the year towards that goal, said White Rock Elks committee head for charity and fundraising Bob O’Keefe.

“Our lodge has recovered somewhat from the COVID-19 pandemic, and our rental activities are now robust and (that) – together with financial support from our White Rock corporate community – allows us to dedicate additional and much-needed funds to our charities as required,” he said.

“Our charitable donations this year have gone a long way to support community needs, particularly in the area of homelessness, food banks, youth scholarships, and veterans.”
