Rolling fields, vintage cars and some of the original buildings of Langley, circa 1950, are being rediscovered through newly released video footage shot along the BC Electric Railway.

Titled Chilliwack and Fraser Valley Way Points, the six-and-a-half minute video, posted on YouTube by the Langley Heritage Society, includes excerpts filmed by Ken Hodgson in 1948, 1949 and 1950, when the last trip of the BC Electric Railway Interurban passenger service to Langley was made.

At that time, two trains serviced the run, one travelling from Vancouver and the other from Chilliwack.

Frank Horn and Vic Sharman, both former motormen, narrate the film and explain details of when the two trains touched noses in Langley as part of a ceremony to mark their final passenger run.

The video was made available to the Langley Heritage Society by Michael Taylor-Noonan, librarian at the Transit Museum Society.
