SURREY - - Organizers of the Band-Aid youth music camp have scored the teaching help of Good for Grapes.The acclaimed folk-pop band, winners of the big-money Peak Performance Project talent contest last fall, will talk about songwriting and "tour survival" at the full-day session Saturday, Sept. 12 at Surrey Arts Centre.It's free to attend the second annual camp, or "youth musician development workshop," geared toward teens and young adults. There is room for up to 60 participants.Young singers, songwriters, solo artists and bands are welcome to attend the community-driven Band-Aid, the aim of which is to give young musicians experience, practical tools and marketable skills, and also connect them with industry professionals who can assist and inspire them.Other industry mentors at this year's Band-Aid include Music BC executive director Bob D'Eith (who will talk about "A Career in Music"), Whitehorse-based pop-punk band Speed Control ("Stage Presence") and producer/engineer Brad Graham ("Home Recording: Mastering Your Music").
