It’s Youth Week in B.C. From May 1 to 7, there will be a host of events and activities taking place across the province aimed at building connections between youth and their communities.

In Surrey, there are daily events going on. Youth Speak Up is an annual event where youth speak out for what they believe is important in their community. Youth Week kicks off today (May 1) at Guildford Town Centre Mall, with free activities from making duct tape wallets to learning to DJ and sumo wrestle in giant Sumo Suits. It’s free, and runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 604-592-6924 for more information.

Other events are planned for Bridgeview, Fleetwood, Guildford, the Chuck Bailey Rec Centre, Newton, South Surrey, Cloverdale and Clayton.

Saturday, May 4, from 6 to 9 p.m., there’s a barbecue at the Cloverdale Youth Centre. Food, contests, and prizes. It’s free. Call 604-598-7978 for more information.

A Clothing Swap is planned at Clayton Hall on Sunday, May 5, starting at 1:30 p.m. Clean out your closets and bring clothes, shoes and accessories and anything else you don’t wear any more to this clothing swap. Call 604-598-7993 for more information.
