Landscapes, florals, portraits, wildlife, and still lifes are among the artworks by 22 artists featured in Autumn Show, a juried group art exhibition organized by the Fraser Valley Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA).

During the show, which continues until Nov. 13 at the Surrey Art Gallery, visitors will see 41 paintings and drawings in various media such as acrylic, graphite, mixed media, oil, resist method on silk using dye, and watercolour that were reviewed by jurors Lalita Hamill, Richard S. McDiarmid and Patricia Peacock.

The jury reviewed works ranging from abstract to representational, and from realist to impressionist, and selected several for awards. Langley-based Alice Mahon’s painting titled Down in the Coulee was awarded first place. Surrey-based Nino Dobrosavljevic won second place for his trompe l’oeil (French for “deceive the eye”) painting titled Woodcraft and Frame. Third place went to Elaine Chatwin of Langley for her painting titled Dreamscape: Discovery.

An opening reception for Autumn Show and several others exhibitions takes place on Saturday, Sept. 17, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

The Surrey Art Gallery is located at 13750 88 Ave.
