The Delta Arts Council (DAC) presents a one-woman comedy, Hired Help, on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2:30 p.m. at the Firehall Centre for the Arts, 11489 84 Ave.

In the play, Vicky does the ironing while entertaining you with stories about her client with the forbidden room, her aging mum living in the care home, and the ups and downs of her acting career.

"Actors never retire," Vicky says, "they just have longer breaks between jobs."

Because her rent keeps going up and the RRSP's keep going down, Vicky needs to supplement her dwindling resources – "something that doesn't involve computers, but is a renewable opportunity.

"Housework, I thought. Things always get dirty, I thought. I have to keep myself available, keep my time flexible. You never know when Spielberg might call."

The play is written and performed by former DAC president Gina Stockdale.

Doors open at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Light refreshments are included.
