Sounds of Summer music series at a variety of venues in Surrey, to Aug. 31, featuring a variety of performers, from classical strings to gypsy swing. FUNDRAISERS

“Raise the Roof” event on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Sullivan Community Hall, 6306 152nd St., Surrey. All-ages, tickets $25 for adults, $12 for those under 16. “Our event is volunteer planned and run and will fund raise to complete and roof a community centre for an orphanage in the DRC, Africa. Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts: Welcome the Storm: Event held from Aug. 11 to 21 at venues including Surrey Arts Centre and Bell Performing Arts Centre. This inaugural festival features South Asian theatre, with multilingual development workshops on dramaturging, playwriting, directing and acting, along with readings and an “industry” series. Fibre Arts & Crafts Festival, Aug. 13 at Surrey Museum: Celebrate heritage crafts like spinning, knitting and weaving with this family-friendly, fun and interactive exploration of all things fibre. “Individuality” youth photo documentary to be showcased at Guildford Town Centre mall until Aug. 28.
