The popular White Rock Sea Festival and Semiahmoo Days is returning to the waterfront soon for three days of family-friendly fun.
From Friday, Aug. 2 to Sunday, Aug. 4, the free festival will have live music, an outdoor movie night, fireworks and more in store. Also anticipated is the long-awaited return of the Torchilight Parade.
Festivities will kick off Friday with a movie screening at Semiahmoo Park, with the movie title to be announced soon.
“We look forward to hosting Semiahmoo Days this year together with the White Rock Sea Festival,” Semiahmoo First Nation Chief Harley Chappell said in a press release.
“We will have our traditional salmon barbecue, an Indigenous artisan market, the favourite Kid’s Zone, and great concerts and entertainment in Semiahmoo Park. We invite everyone to join us.”
Taking place at Semiahmoo Park, the return of Semiahmoo Days will also feature an environmental zone at East Beach for all to learn about the area on both Saturday and Sunday.
Memorial Park will also feature performances and music on the P'Quals Memorial Park Stage on Saturday and Sunday, with boat sea tours and games for all ages.
“The waterfront will be in full swing over the August long weekend at the White Rock Sea Festival & Semiahmoo Days with concerts, fireworks, and a ton of family-friendly activities,” said White Rock Mayor Megan Knight.
“I look forward to the return of the Torchlight Parade and firework finale. We hope people will join in the fun!”
The Torchlight Parade is returning after a five-year hiatus on the night of Aug. 3. Making its way down Marine Drive from Oxford Street to Semiahmoo Park, the nighttime parade will feature floats from the city, businesses, organizations and more.
To conclude the festival, fireworks will light up the skies near the waterfront on Sunday, Aug. 4, beginning at about 10:15 p.m.
