'Gone Country' concert in Cloverdale again

Tickets went on sale Tuesday (March 11) for the second annual "Gone Country" outdoor concert at Cloverdale's Millennium Park Amphitheatre.

The all-country cancer fundraiser, set for Saturday, July 26, will feature Chad Brownlee, Brett Kissel, One More Girl, Karen Lee Batten, The Washboard Union and DJ Jaxon Hawks.

The $25 "early bird" tickets are on sale until the end of March at www.twinscancerfundraising.com; in April and beyond, they're priced at $35.

It's a 19-and-over party. "We have always preferred flip-flops and tank tops over high heels and bow ties," says a post on the event website. "Give us great tunes over long speeches any day. Sunsets and cold drinks mixed with great people gets even better knowing every penny goes to fight cancer."

The event is organized by Twins Cancer Fundraising, started by Cloverdaleraised twins Jamie and Chris Ruscheinski, who lost their mother to breast cancer 13 years ago.

Last summer's "Gone Country" concert drew nearly 4,000 people to the Cloverdale venue with a lineup that included Aaron Pritchett and Dallas Smith. The inaugural event raised about $183,000 for renos to Easter Seals House in Vancouver and the Shaun G. Foundation, a cancerbattling charity.

ROGERS BOUND FOR 'PEG

Money from tickets sold for the James "Buddy" Rogers concert March 22 in South Surrey will help the blues guitarist get to Winnipeg for the Juno Awards later this month.

Rogers' My Guitar's My Only Friend has been nominated in the Blues Album of the Year category. The 10 songs were co-written and produced by Tom Lavin, of Powder Blues Band fame.

Tickets are $25 for the White Rock Blues Society-hosted show, at Pacific Inn Resort's Rhumba Room bar, via tickets.surrey.ca.

FAB FOUREVER 40 YEARS LATER

On Thursday, April 24, White Rock's Coast Capital Playhouse will echo with the sounds of The Beatles at the PNE close to 40 years ago.

On a tour of Canada's western provinces, bang-on tribute band The Fab Fourever is recreating the Aug. 22, 1964, performance by the Beatles in Vancouver, using the same song sequence and many of the same introductions used that summer day. Set two will take listeners through the studio days of the Beatles, with costumes and instruments to match each era.

Tickets for the Rock.It Boy Entertainment show are $42.50, plus fees and taxes, via 604-536-7535 and www.whiterockplayers.ca.
