LANGLEY — Country-rock musician Dallas Smith will attend the Vancouver Giants' "Fill the Rink" night for a game against the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday, March 1.

The WHL club will be raising money and awareness for the Basics for Babies charity.

Smith will do the game's ceremonial puck drop before hosting a meet-and-greet with fans.

To qualify for the meet-and-greet session, fans must bring a minimum $10 donation to Basics for Babies.

"Smith will be signing autographs and taking photos with fans during the first intermission in the Envision Financial Banquet Hall, so make sure you bring your donations," operators of the hockey club said in an email on Wednesday (Feb. 15).

Basics for Babies was created in 1994 when 93.7 JRfm radio station recognized a chronic shortage of baby products at Lower Mainland Food Banks. With the help of partners, Basics for Babies has raised more than $2 million and hundreds of thousands of pounds of diapers, baby food, formula and other items.
