Market Days is returning for its July festival date.
Hosted by the Cloverdale Arts and Entertainment Association (CAEA), Cloverdale Market Days is set to take over the downtown area once again July 27 for its third of five dates this year.
Paige Hardy, president of CAEA, is “excited” for the next event of 2024 as the previous two market dates have exceeded expectations as attendance numbers have been very high.
“We are so excited that our markets have developed and grown to the size that they are this season,” Hardy said. “Once again we will be hosting over 135 vendors.”
She said while the number of vendors CAEA can host grows, it brings in even more and more people.
“This market, we will have three farms joining us, all local fresh veggies and fruit, from berries to cucumbers and tomatoes,” Hardy added. “As our farmers have lots of local goodies to share with us, multiple tents will fill in the centre of our market—57th and 176th Street area.”
Hardy said, as always, she has musicians lined up to entertain market-goers.
New for the July 27 market, Hardy is bringing in a cartoon artist.
“This market we will have a caricature artist joining us for the first time,” she noted. “Ted Couling will be set up in Hawthorne near Korki the Clown and our face painter.”
Hardy said Couling will be offering his services for free.
“Of course tips are always appreciated as these are artists trying to support their talents,” Hardy added. “As this is a community event, we try to add something for everyone that attends.”
Hardy explained that as a not-for-profit association, CAEA is passionate about bringing in local artists and supporting a variety of arts.
Hardy added the CAEA information booth will have free Market Days bags. There will be T-shirts, sweatshirts, and long-sleeve shirts available for purchase with 100 per cent of the proceeds being reinvested into the operations costs for the street fest.
“We, as a non-profit association, will have our information booth set up in the centre area,” she said. “Be sure to stop by to pick up your free market bag, fill it up as you shop, and support all our vendors.”
Cloverdale Market Days can be found on both Instagram and Facebook.
Market Days runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on each festival day and is hosted in downtown Cloverdale on 176th Street between 56A Avenue and 58th Avenue. There are three market dates left for 2024: July 27, Aug. 24, and Sept. 21.
