The ever-popular Cloverdale Market Days is back.

The series of one-day festivals is set to take over 176th Street for five dates in 2024, with its first date right around the corner.

Hosted by the Cloverdale Arts and Entertainment Association (CAEA), Cloverdale Market Days returns for one Saturday in each of May, June, July, August, and September.

Paige Hardy, president of CAEA, said Market Days enjoyed much success in 2023 and she hopes to repeat that this year.

“Our season opener for Cloverdale Market Days is fast approaching,” Hardy told the Cloverdale Reporter.

May 25 will be the first market of the year.

Hardy said they have a lot of vendors from last year that have chosen to return and a lot of new ones set to go.

“We already have 125 vendors signed up, so the street will be full.”

Hardy noted that Glenwood Valley Farms will be returning to Market Days for the first time in a few seasons.

“We are truly excited to have them back with their amazing assortment of fresh veggies.”

She also said they have some new food trucks scheduled for the first market date.

“Taco Tigre will join us with their delicious Asian inspired street tacos,” Hardy added. “We will also have Roasted Revolution with their amazing assortment of roasted sweet corn on the cob. And the Mr. Arancino Sicilian Risotto Balls food truck will be with us.”

Returning from last year, Hardy noted both Hurricane Potato and J’s Disco Dog will be at the first market.

Hardy also encouraged market-goers to visit the CAEA booth during their street-side perambulations.

“After you have tasted your way through the market, stop by Hawthorne Square with your littles to get a twisted balloon from Korki the Clown and get your face painted for free.”

Hardy said the CAEA booth will have a new assortment of shirts—long sleeve, short sleeve, and sweatshirts—available.

“They’ll have our Cloverdale design, which has been a big hit since we designed it.” She added they’ll have special Market Days bags for sale at a buck each, or free with a shirt purchase.

Hardy said Mr. Bubbles will be back walking up and down the street on stilts.

CAEA already has a full slate of musicians booked for each market date.

“We are lucky to have an assortment of amazing musical talent up and down the street,” she said. “Stop by the busker’s tents and show them some love.”

Market Days is the largest open-air market in Surrey and one of the largest in the Lower Mainland.

Hardy said for anyone unfamiliar with the festival, and who may be thinking of coming down, there is free parking in a myriad of lots encircling 176th Street.

“Our community here in Cloverdale is amazing,” she added. “Bring your walking shoes and enjoy all the artisans. Make sure to pop into the existing businesses while you are here in town too!”

Hardy said the festival offers many a chance to get know Cloverdale a little better.

“This market is so important to our community,” she explained. “It brings awareness to our historical town of Cloverdale.”

Cloverdale Market Days can be found on both Instagram and Facebook.

Market Days runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on each festival day and is hosted in downtown Cloverdale on 176th Street between 56A Avenue and 58th Avenue. There are five market dates set for 2024: May 25, June 22, July 27, Aug. 24, and Sept. 21.
