Park bench perspective in ‘Splinters’

The ensemble youth cast of Splinters

Surrey Little Theatre’s youth troupe is set to open the stage curtains on Splinters, a one-act play that centres on a lonely park bench and the conversations that unfold around it.

The award-winning play is written and directed by 17-year-old Elyse Maloway, who won the 2008 Write On playwriting competition.

It’s presented Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays Dec. 8 to 18 at the Surrey Little Theatre venue, at 8 p.m.

The Surrey Little Theatre is donating 50 per cent of box office proceeds to the Surrey Food Bank.

Local singer/songwriter Joe Given is joined by 13 actors in the ensemble cast. Given will also perform a pre-show selection of music.

The cast stars Kylee Dawson, Ashley Chodat, Brittainy Fernandes, Cassidy Northway, Tori Artress, Patrick Macht, Joe Given, Nichole Cochrane, Jennifer Duong, and Ryan Robinson, Chanelle Collins, Serena Jackson, Megan Roberts and Matthew Roberts.

Tickets are $15; available at reservations@surreylittletheatare.com, or at www.surreylittletheatre.com. The theatre is located at 7027 184 Street.
