Stuart and Jenna Walker of The Reklaws will play Surrey Canada Day in Cloverdale this year.

The Reklaws are headlining Surrey Canada Day this year. They'll bring their unique brand of country music to the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds July 1.

The brother and sister country music duo recently posted to their Facebook page that they are looking forward to getting out Surrey.

"Summer has kicked off," the pair wrote. "B.C. you’re next. And there are bunch more shows to be announced."

So far The Reklaws have 11 shows lined up across the country over both July and August.

The Ontario country music stars will headline festivities in Cloverdale along with Goldie Boutilier and Garret T. Willie.

"Cloverdale always looks forward to Canada Day,” Paul Orazietti, the executive director of the Cloverdale BIA, recently said. “Now, more than ever, we’ve become very patriotic and because of that it’s a way of celebrating our identity.”

He said a headliner like the Reklaws adds to the “cachet” of the holiday celebration in Cloverdale and elevates the patriotic overtones.

“Having Canada Day on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds, which is the largest entertainment district in the whole city, allows the event to get even bigger,” Orazietti noted.

The City of Surrey recently released a full schedule for Canada Day Gates are set to open early with a welcome ceremony starting at 10:45 a.m. Musical acts will follow with Mayor Brenda Locke and some council members on hand for an opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. The Reklaws will take the stage at 9 p.m. with 15 minutes of fireworks to be ignited at 10:15 p.m. (See below for a full schedule for all stages.)

Organizers for Surrey Canada also recently announced (June 20) that festival-goers will be able to take their drinks with them around the Fairgrounds.

"Enjoy a refreshing selection of cold drinks while soaking in live music in the Beer Garden," noted a post on the Surrey Canada Day Facebook page. "Thanks to a site-wide licence, you can take your drink with you and explore the festival site."

In addition to the Prospera Main Stage, the Siam Stage returns this year and it will feature other events, presentations, and cultural acts, including some Indigenous cultural presentations as part of an Indigenous Village. There will also be a Family Stage, which will feature family-oriented entertainment, and a Community Stage, which will have many local performers and some dance battles. A DJ will spin tracks on the Community Stage when there are no performances scheduled.

There will be several food trucks on-site for Surrey Canada Day, along with exhibitors and vendors, amusement rides, and the aforementioned beer garden.
