For veteran comic Ryan Lachance, living with cerebral palsy has provided a unique perspective from which to challenge norms and inspire laughter in the process.

With his razor-sharp wit, raw honesty, and some 25 years of experience, the White Rock resident continues to prove that laughter truly knows no limits.

An outspoken advocate for accessibility in the arts, Lachance's trademark, unflinching humour – and his ability to connect with audiences of all kinds – will be showcased in two upcoming nights of live stand-up comedy in Surrey in June.

Matt Billon Day, Wednesday, June 5, 8 p.m. at Yuk Yuk’s Surrey ( 9262 140 Street) is a special evening in tribute to the late comedian, who was a colleague and close friend of Lachance.

It features what Lachance describes as "a powerhouse lineup of comedians in a celebration of the legacy of a Canadian comedy legend."

Hosted by Brett Martin, the show features such name performers as Peter Hudson, Richard Lett, Justin Nichol and Amber Harper-Young, among others.

Tickets ($20) are available at yukyuks.com.

Lachance said Legion of Laughs  – Friday, June 13, 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Crescent Branch 240 (2643 128 St.) – offers a night of "top-tier comedy in a community atmosphere," bringing together some of the country’s funniest performers, in which partial proceeds will go to support the branch and its programming.

Local and national touring headliners performing will include host Randii Andii, Lisa Person, Katrina Bennett, Kristina April and Chris Gaskin.

Tickets ($20) are available at vtixonline.com, and non-members are welcome.
