It's called the Salmon Sessions for good reason.

The family-friendly one-day music festival – a co-venture of Penmar Community Arts Society and the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club (1284 184 St., Surrey) – returns for a second year, Aug. 24 , running 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., with a stellar line-up, including pop-reggae troubadour Daniel Wesley, retro-rockers Camaro '67, country music sensation Antonio Larosa, funk-rockers Brass Camel, and crossover pop duo Fionn.

But the funds raised, through ticket sales and tax-receipt eligible donations, will go toward continuing the club's ongoing contribution to the eco-system and food security – the Little Campbell River Salmon Hatchery, which releases, on average, some 100,000 additional salmon each year into the river system.

Principal need is for a new building on higher ground on the club property – over its 40-year history the current hatchery building has been subject to years of flooding, particularly during the 'atmospheric river' floods of 2021. which caused extensive damage and destroyed tens of thousands of fish eggs.

Festival tickets are $45 each for adults (19 and over) and $20 for children and youth (18 and under) and all additional donations over $20 are eligible for tax receipts.
