Shelby Wilson wants your vote.
The Surrey filmmaker's short film Drift Softly is one of the finalists in the Storyhive video contest, and voting ends Friday, Feb. 10.
The 10-minute drama tells the story of two young women, Darcy and Enola, as they attend a party in a small town in 1985.
Tension leads to a quick escape, a developing friendship and a journey home in a shopping cart.
"We want people to see our story because we hold it close to our hearts," said Wilson. "It plays on themes of unity, bullying, social pressures, cultural differences and truth and reconciliation."
Storyhive, run by Telus Optik Local, funded the program to provide grants for emerging content creators in B.C. and Alberta.
The contest allowed for short films in the categories of comedy, drama or documentary.
Drift Softly is up against 29 other female-directed short films.
The top project will be awarded $10,000 and a distribution opportunity through Telus services.
The top two winners in the contest will also receive customized career training and attendance at the Banff World Media Festival June 11-14.
