Brains... they hunger for brains. Local Zombies practice for the upcoming Thrill the World Surrey 'Thriller' dance

In the words of Vincent Price in his spooky 'Thriller' rap, no mere mortal can resist the evil of the thriller.

Fortunately for anyone who's lurched and shuffled along to the zombie dance sequence in Michael Jackson's immortal video, there's still time to join the world dance record attempt in Cloverdale this Saturday, right up to "Thrill Time".

At 3 p.m. sharp, people dressed as zombies will re-enact the dance moves from the King of Pop's Thriller – joining thousands of other zombies around the world. Last year, more than 6,400 zombies in 22 countries took part, breaking another world record. And this year, Thrill the World Surrey is here for the first time.

Participants can register at 12:30 p.m., practice, get zombified with makeup artists from New Image – and still have time to join the mass choreographed dance.

It's happening Oct. 25 at the Cloverdale Youth Park, 6188 176 Street, site of the new skateboard park beside the Cloverdale Recreation Centre.

Don't know the steps? No problem – there are instructions on how to learn the dance, plus a video, at www.thrilltheworldsurrey.com.

For the past several weeks, dancers have been learning the steps at practice sessions throughout Surrey, with entry by donation to the Surrey Food Bank.

"The practices have been epic," according to Nicole Whitney, one of the organizers.
