Old coins, vintage toys, stamps and other things will be bought and sold during the Cloverdale Antique and Collectible Show, a second event planned by Greg Finn and Vic Steele as part of their Canadian Antique and Collectible Club venture. The event, at the fairgrounds’ Agriplex on Saturday, Jan. 14, will feature close to 140 tables from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a special “early bird” hour starting at 8 a.m. “We hold four shows a year there, and the first one we did was at the Show Barn, where we’ll return after this show,” Finn told the Now. Violinist Simone Lamsma (pictured) is featured during “Symphonic Dances,” the title of a concert that sees Vancouver Symphony Orchestra return to Surrey’s Bell Performing Arts Centre on Sunday evening (Jan. 15), starting at 8 p.m. Guest conductor Otto Tausk is the man with the baton for this one, a musical showcase works by Wagner (“The Flying Dutchman: Overture”), Rachmaninoff (“Symphonic Dances”) and more.
