Surrey Museum gets into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day with a weekend Celtic Fest, on Saturday, March 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free for bagpipe lessons, Irish craft-making sessions, live music by accordionist Allan Barnett, and fancy footwork by Steel School of Irish Dance and Heather Jolley Highland Dancers. Sarah Hagen, former host of the morning Classical Coffee Concerts at Surrey Arts Centre’s Studio Theatre, returns there next Thursday, March 23 to perform with current series hosts, Bergmann Piano Duo (South Surrey’s Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann). As a trio, they promise to maneuver their way through a complicated choreography with up to six hands on one keyboard. 3. Cloverdale Curling Club will be busy early next week during the 50th annual Nifty Fifty Bonspiel, which brings together women curlers, all over the age of 50, from throughout the province. “We have 144 participants this year, with many having curled in this bonspiel for 20 years or more,” event planner Catherine Ann Fortier told the Now. “Our oldest participant in 2012 was 92 years young!” The event runs from Monday to Wednesday (March 20 to 22) at 6150 176 St. Formal opening ceremonies, at 11 a.m. Monday, will see teams piped into the rink in grand Scottish style.
