1. Another inFlux art party will take place at Surrey Art Gallery this Friday evening (Feb. 24) – “a night of hands-on artmaking and live performances that celebrates human kinetics and movement captured through a scientific and technological approach,” from 7 to 10 p.m. Beverages will be available for purchase at the all-ages event, where party-goers can try on a heart-activated garment created by artists Brady Marks and Danielle Gotell, make sounds on the “soNio” soundboard crafted by local group MakerCube, listen to the band Moth Mouth(pictured above) and more. Visit Surrey.ca/culture-recreation/17788.aspx for more info, or call 604-501-5566.

2. New and soon-to-be parents will make their way to Cloverdale Agriplex this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for the two-day Birth Fair, an inaugural event that promises “everything under one roof about bumps, babies and beyond.” All proceeds from the $5 admission ticket will benefit BC Women’s Hospital Foundation, and the first 250 people through the gate each day will receive a goody bag. “We want people who are thinking about babies, or living with a new baby, to be able to make educated choices when it comes to the health and care of mother and baby,” says Christie Weber, event founder and producer. More event details can be found at Birthfair.com.

3. Love gospel music? Consider visiting People’s Full Gospel Church on Saturday evening (Feb. 25) for an annual gospel concert organized by the Jamaican Canadian Cultural Association of BC. Starting at 6 p.m., performers including Sophia Messado, Phyllis Adelyne and Marcello Reid will hit the stage at 14455 104th Ave. Tickets are $25 per person, and more details can be found at Jccabc.ca and Facebook.com/jccabc.
