People attend the Chamber's "Kickoff to Christmas" luncheon in 2022. This year's charity lunch will be held Dec. 4 at the Cloverdale Community Kitchen.

Tis the beginning of the season once again and the Chamber is set to host its annual charity luncheon.

The Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce will host its "Kickoff to Christmas" lunch Dec. 4 at the Cloverdale Community Kitchen.

Scott Wheatley is encouraging anyone who wants to support a good cause to pick up some tickets for the event.

"It's a special event where Chamber members and non-members come together to support the outstanding work the Community Kitchen does," said Wheatley, the Chamber's executive director. "They feed a lot of people. It's incredible how much work they do."

There are a lot of people living on the fringes of society right now and the Community Kitchen, being on the front line, is filling a lot of that need, he added.

"But, they need more support. They have a waiting list for families to get into their programs."

He said this will be the fifth luncheon in a row that he's been involved in since he came to Cloverdale to run the Chamber.

"The Chamber has a great relationship with the Community Kitchen and it's always an honour to be able to partner with them to host this fundraising Christmas lunch."

Wheatley said anyone in Cloverdale can attend.

The Chamber will also host a silent auction at the luncheon and all proceeds from that will also go to the Kitchen.

Wheatley added there are several ways anyone in the community can support the Kitchen: become a luncheon sponsor, buy a table of eight seats, become a “Friend of the CCK" for $100, bring a non-perishable food or toy donation to the Kitchen, collect donations at your place of business, donate to the Kitchen, bid on something at the silent auction during the luncheon, bring others to the luncheon—friends, family, clients, and coworkers.

Wheatley said ticket sales are already underway, but only 100 tickets are available for the exclusive event. Tickets cost $50 and can be found on the Chamber's website at cloverdalechamber.ca.
