A local volleyball club featuring athletes from the area has won heavy medal at provincials.
Seaside Volleyball Club's Surf 16U team won gold at the B.C. Provincial Championships recently held at Tradex in Abbotsford.
The team finished first in their division, with more than 80 teams competing in the tournament this year, an email noted.
Surrey was well represented by head coach Shane Donen, assistant coach Maryanne Donen and eight athletes from the area, with Surrey’s Chantel Peters named tournament MVP.
The team travels to Edmonton this coming weekend to compete at nationals, the email continued, adding the volleyball club is a South Surrey, Delta and adjoining community club entering its 23rd year of competition.
