Celebrating the season by travelling back in time at Historic Stewart Farm in South Surrey to enjoy Victorian-era Christmas festivities and fun.
Head to the heritage home, where the Stewart farming family lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s, on Saturday, Dec. 7, to experience a Victorian Christmas Evening.
The cozy event features live harp music in the parlour, fresh-baked treats from the wood oven, homemade holiday decor and the smell of gingerbread throughout.
Make a homemade lantern in the rustically decorated farmhouse, then head out to visit Father Christmas in the pole barn, where he will be giving out candy canes and posing for photos in his old-fashioned sleigh.
This classic, back-to-basics Christmas outing is perfect for the whole family, and also, free.
It happens from 4 to 7 p.m. at the farmhouse, 13723 Crescent Rd., on Dec. 7.
As well as the Victorian Christmas Evening, the historic farmhouse hosts Christmas weekend drop-ins from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 7-8, Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22.
Deck the Halls is the theme of the first drop-in, where visitors can explore the types of homemade decorations that Victorians made for the holidays, tour the farmhouse, and make their own traditional paper ornament to take home.
Homemade Holidays is the theme of the next drop-in, where visitors can learn about the homemade gifts that would have been found under a Victorian Christmas tree and discover why stocking are hung, while Let’s Celebrate wraps up the drop-in weekends, with a merrymaking theme that showcases how the Stewarts would have celebrated the holidays, including playing fun parlour games.
