Surrey RCMP (seen here in a file photo) has seized drugs and cash from 2 Surrey homes after a Drug Unit investigation into a "dial-a-dope" line.

A drug trafficking investigation by Surrey RCMP's Drug Unit has resulted in the seizure of drugs and cash from two Surrey homes.

Earlier this month, drug unit members executed search warrants at two Surrey homes – one in the 16000-block of 16 Avenue, the other in the 13600-block of 100 Ave – to disrupt the drug supply for a street-level drug trafficking network, RCMP said in a release.

In March, Surrey RCMP received information from a member of public regarding a phone line that was selling illicit drugs in Surrey, the release noted.

Surrey RCMP's Drug Unit started an investigation into the suspected dial-a-dope line, with investigators using a number of investigative techniques to identify the suspects involved in the drug trafficking.

Three male suspects were identified and arrested.

On Oct.17, drug unit members, with the assistance of Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team (SGET), executed two search warrants, one in South Surrey.

The following was seized during the search:

• 4 oz suspected fentanyl
• 2.5 oz suspected cocaine
• 1.5 oz suspected methamphetamine
• $5,585 cash
• Two cellphones

The investigation remains ongoing for the forensic examination and lab analysis of the seized items. A report to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada will be drafted and charges recommended for the suspects involved, RCMP said.

RCMP reminded the city's residents if they suspect a person is selling drugs, or a residence is being used for drug trafficking, to call police.

"Any amount of information could be crucial to police to identify the suspects and obtain evidence that would bring them to court," the release said.

"Our community members are our eyes and ears and play a significant role in keeping the city safe," Surrey RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha added.

Anyone wishing to report information about possible drug trafficking is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
