Peace Arch Curling Club's the Soup Seekers was the winning team at a weekend bonspiel: Trish Tayler, left, Darlene May, Naomi McKay, and Barb Messenger (player Deb Mele not pictured).

After a weekend bonspiel, it was the Soup Seekers who emerged triumphant in White Rock.

Peace Arch Curling Club hosted its annual senior ladies' bonspiel starting Friday (Jan. 10), with 16 teams hurrying hard for the win.

At the end of the event on Sunday, players were unanimous in their comments that a good time was had by all, noted a release.

Peace Arch Curling Club's own Soup Seekers won the competition.

With such a unique name, the team gets asked a lot about the inspiration behind it.

“When we get of the ice after a game, we are all eager to enjoy a nice warm bowl of soup at our club café [Candlelight Cuisine],” explained team skip, Barb Messenger.

Placing second was the Christian rink from Langley, while the Morrell team from Tunnel Town in Tsawwassen finished in third place, the release said.

“The weekend’s success was thanks to the work of many volunteers from the ladies’ day leagues at Peace Arch as well as the generous support of title sponsor Oceana PARC,” added league president Mary Holmes.
