Surrey RCMP investigating shooting in Newton

Unoccupied business sustains several bullet holes in late-night incident

Surrey RCMP is investigating a confirmed shooting in the Newton area of Surrey.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday (Aug 4), police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1440-block of 72 Avenue, an RCMP release says. Upon arrival, responding officers located an unoccupied business that had several bullet holes in it. No one was injured during the incident.

Investigators are seeking out surveillance video and interviewing witnesses and property representatives as the investigation continues. Motive for the incident is unknown.
