Surrey RCMP respond to suspicious package at Canada Post

Hazmat team attends South Surrey postal facility

Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious package at a Canada Post facility in the 2400-block of King George Boulevard Thursday (Oct. 3).

Officers observed a substance in a box that Canada Post employee believed to be suspicious, Surrey RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha said in an email.

Surrey Fire Service and their hazmat team attended at the request of police, she noted.

The package in question was sealed up by the hazmat team and Canada Post was going to dispose of it, Sangha said.

"No one suffered any reaction to the substance, and it is unknown what this substance was."

Police cleared the incident by 12:15 p.m.
