Four men charged in a fatal South Surrey shooting appeared briefly via video in Surrey Provincial Court Tuesday (June 18).

Surrey's Manvir Basram, 23, Sahib Basra of Surrey, 20, Surrey's 23-year old Harkirat Jhutty, and 20-year old Keilon Francois of Ontario were charged with first-degree murder on June 8, one day after Yuvraj Goyal was shot and killed.

Goyal, 28, was found deceased in the 900-block of 164 Street in Surrey on the morning of June 7. A short time later, police were advised of a vehicle fire in the 18500-block of McMillan Road, Surrey.

Although initial evidence suggests this was a targeted shooting, investigators are working to determine the reason that Goyal, who had no history of police contact, was killed.

Defense counsel requested a deferment of the Judicial Interim Release (JIR), or bail, hearing, which was adjourned to Tuesday, July 2.

All four suspects are expected to again, appear via video.
