Elias Pettersson of the Abbotsford Canucks has been named an American Hockey League all-star.
The AHL announced rosters for all four divisions for the event, which occurs in Coachella Valley's Acrisure Arena on Feb. 2 and 3.
The rookie defenceman has recorded 12 points in 30 games for Abbotsford and has been a steady presence on the backend all season long.

Pettersson was chosen in the third round, 80th overall by the Canucks in the 2022 NHL Draft. He played eight regular season games and one playoff game with Abbotsford in 2023-24.
Pettersson joins Christian Wolanin and Arshdeep Bains as the only two other Abbotsford Canucks all-stars in franchise history. Bains was named the all-star game's most valuable player last season.
“Elias has had a very good start to his pro career in North America,” stated Abbotsford Canucks General Manager Ryan Johnson. “This is a great honour for him to be recognized by the other coaches in our division.”
Pettersson scored his first career AHL goal on Nov. 29, 2024 and collected three assists against the Colorado Eagles on Dec. 8, 2024. He currently ranks second on the team in both penalty minutes (32) and plus-minus rating (+5), while ranking second among team defencemen in both assists (11) and points (12).

He will represent the Pacific Division at the event and take on teams from the Central, North and Atlantic Divisions. Players were selected to the team by rival coaches in the division. Th four teams will participate in a 3-on-3, round-robin tournament to determine the all-star champions.
The AHL skills competition occurs on Feb. 2 and the all-star game is set for Feb. 3.
