Former St. Louis Blues forward Sammy Blais has signed with the Abbotsford Canucks.

The Abbotsford Canucks have signed 2019 Stanley Cup champion Sammy Blais.

The club announced the addition on Thursday (Aug. 22) and added that he will also be attending Vancouver Canucks training camp on a professional try-out agreement.

The 28-year-old forward recorded seven points in 53 games for the St. Louis Blues last season. He's collected 71 points in 257 games over his NHL career split between the Blues and the New York Rangers. His most productive season was in 2022-23 when he scored 20 points in 31 games. He was part of the 2019 Stanley Cup champion St. Louis squad. Blais scored eight points in 10 games to help Canada win a gold medal at the 2023 IIHF World Championship.

He was dealt by the Blues, along with a second round pick, to the Rangers for Pavel Buchnevich in 2022. Blais suffered a serious knee injury with the Rangers in the 2021-22 season. He was then reacquired by the Blues from the Rangers in 2023 as part of a package for Niko Mikkola and Vladimir Tarasenko.

Blais has been a solid producer at the AHL level, with 105 points in 155 games with the Chicago Wolves, San Antonio Rampage and Hartford Wolf Pack. He also packed an offensive punch in the QMJHL, with 178 points in 149 games with the Victoriaville Tigers and Charlottetown Islanders.

The Quebec product was chosen by the Blues in the sixth round, 176th overall of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Canucks training camp runs from Sept. 19 to 22 in Penticton. The Abbotsford Canucks open the AHL regular season in Calgary on Oct. 11.
