A public hearing is set for April 14 on a redevelopment proposal for the Hills at Portal golf course land in South Surrey.

Editor,

Regarding the council meeting on April 14, I would really encourage the city council to vote against this proposal. The owners of the Hills purchased this golf course with the full intention of eventually developing this property, although they say it’s not financially feasible to keep property as a golf course. Maybe they should have done their due diligence before purchasing the property.

I live in the area, and there is so much future development in this area, we don’t need any more. The amount of old growth trees that will be taken down will be devastating to wildlife, especially the eagles in the area. I am also sure if this project goes ahead, it will be some of the most expensive housing in B.C., only affordable to wealthy people

So please, councillors, turn this proposal down. If the owners can’t run it, sell it.
