Editor,

Re: Proposal for a City of Surrey health-care administrator

Medical care for Canadians, is provincial responsibility. I don't know what the mayor thinks a consultant will find out. There is a global shortage of physicians, and other health care providers.

The provincial government needs to do more. There is no doubt about it.

When looking at the committees councillors are on, I don't see anyone that is a liaison with the provincial government. Perhaps there should be a committee dedicated to communicating and negotiating with the provincial government.

The city is reliant on the provincial government for funding for many things.

The city already has a massive deficit in the education budget.

I don't think hiring a very expensive consultant is the answer.
