Editor,

To reporter Tom Zillich,

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for the heartfelt articles you wrote about Const. Roger Pierlet, who tragically lost his life in 1974. Your words captured not only his dedication to policing, but also the life he had ahead of him and the immense loss that his passing was for the community. As a retired senior RCMP officer who served the majority of my career in the Lower Mainland, I deeply appreciate your commitment to ensuring that Const. Pierlet’s sacrifice and the person he was are remembered and honoured, even all these years later.

Your work has had a profound impact on both the policing community and the broader public, reminding all of the true cost of service. You’ve helped keep this young man’s memory alive in a way that resonates with those who knew him and informs those who didn’t, fostering a sense of shared remembrance. I commend you for your thoughtful and compassionate journalism.
