What in heaven’s name is city council thinking to allow such a desecration?

After reading all the letters about Surrey, my first thought was to defend my home city. But people are speaking the truth.

Many people in our communities can’t even afford to buy their own medications for diseases – and they weren’t given a choice if they wanted it or not.

While addicts are people and have rights, so do all the other people in the area have the right to a neighbourhood that is clean, free of open drug dealing, with sidewalks and lit streets.

I am outraged that we can’t let our children play outside in our yards – or in a public playground – because they may get hurt by some drug addict’s used drug paraphernalia or their excrement.

As someone who lives in Whalley, letters like the one I just read in the Now-Leader misrepresent my amazing neighbourhood.

I left Surrey in 2001 because of the huge number of problems. I hate to say it but I’m going to leave again – as soon as possible. This place is even worse than when I left.

Open letter to the mayor and council of Surrey. I am heartbroken.
