With the help of the Delta municipality, a local school is planning its own community garden.
Last month, Delta Mayor Lois Jackson, together with Delta School District Supt. Dianne Turner, Ministry of Children and Family Development Community Services Manager Holden Chu, and Hellings Elementary principal Matt Jamieson, celebrated the initiation of Hellings Elementary School’s community garden.
To initiate the garden, the Corporation of Delta provided a truckload of soil, a composter and a rain barrel. Students were on hand for the soil delivery.
