Admission is free Saturday (Oct. 26) at the 2024 Metro Vancouver Black Business Expo at Surrey City Hall, where a free-admission Diwali celebration will also be happening on the plaza outside.

From noon to 4 p.m., the third annual Black Business Expo is hosted by Yoruba Social and Cultural Association of BC in partnership with Surrey Board of Trade.

The expo is an opportunity for Black business owners to showcase their products and services, connect with potential customers and build brand recognition in the marketplace, with a marketplace, B2B Networking Lounge sponsored by Prospera Credit Union and guest speakers.

"Our vision of supporting existing businesses and contributing to an ecosystem where entrepreneurs can trade and thrive is exemplified by our partnership with the Surrey Board of Trade," Adebola Ige, president of Yoruba Social and Cultural Association of BC, says in the expo program, posted on metrovancouverblackbizexpo.ca.

"We currently run the Yoruba BC New Entrepreneurial Incubator Program, providing mentorship and support for operational and digital growth for 30 local businesses."

Admission is also free at RED-FM's "biggest Diwali celebration of the year" at Surrey Civic Plaza, Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. Himmat Sandhu headlines the live entertainment, with food, shopping, a kids zone and more, according to a post on eventbrite.ca

Elsewhere in Surrey on Saturday, Spooktacular Newton is set to happen from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 137 Street, between 72A and 74 avenues, rain or shine. Close to 15,000 people are expected at the annual event, billed as Surrey's only free, family-friendly Halloween street festival.
