Tickets are $54.58 for the 2025 edition of the Long Long Table dinner hosted by Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association.
The annual event, first held in 2014, is advertised as "an evening of good food and even better company," with an "Urban Summer Nights" theme on Tuesday, June 24, starting with 4:30 p.m. networking and 6:15 meal service.
Close to 200 people will gather on Surrey Civic Plaza (outside city hall) for a five-course dinner curated by Civic Hotel kitchen staff.
"Each course is created using fresh local ingredients that celebrate our diversity," says a post on LongLongTable2025.eventbrite.ca, where tickets are sold.
The website details the 2025 dinner menu, with family-style entree of crusted grilled chicken breast, creamed brassica, wild rice, smoked foraged mushroom pate and emulsion. The vegetarian option is cedar-smoked eggplant, sorghum pilaf, berbere pepper sauce, aguafaba, crispy sunchokes.
Wine can be purchased for $10 a glass, $44 a bottle.
The reception menu will include grilled Octopus skewers (with smoked Castelvetrano olive), mini tostadas (guacamole, black beans) and BBQ bavette steak (on parmesan crouton, horseradish foam).
Long Long Table courses include grilled fruit, morel mushroom ragu, matcha panna cotta and, for dessert, rhubarb tatin with honeycomb, macerated strawberries, whipped mascarpone yoghurt, sweet cicely syrup and ruby chocolate.
Also in the last half of June, Downtown Surrey BIA and Whalley Community Association will host the 25th-anniversary Downtown Surrey Fest – A Celebration of Community on Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central City Plaza (13450 101 Ave.). Look for the entertainment schedule and other details on surreyfest.ca.
Later this summer, among many other events planned on the plaza, on Aug. 16 the annual Battle of the Brews beer-tasting festival will help Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society raise money for youth-focused initiatives.
