Twelve musicians will hit the stage at the 2025 Music City Showcase, an annual celebration of Surrey-area talent at Surrey Arts Centre's Studio Theatre, on Saturday, Feb. 8 this time around.
Sami Ghawi's FUSIONpresents and Surrey Civic Theatres welcome a wide range of sounds at the third annual concert, to feature Glisha Nadine, Emma Alves, Maddy Lofvendahl, Colin Sankey, Richard Tichelman, Haleluya Hailu, Khyla Granstrom, Matthew Presidente, Silent St. J, Karishma Deo, Connor Nelson and Kiara Dokaj.
Last February I enjoyed a front-row seat to see a dozen rising stars on the Surrey music scene, and this year's Showcase promises both familiar and new names in the intimate, cabaret-vibe theatre, 7:30 p.m. start.
A 604 Records signee, Haleluya Hailu is now a familiar face on the Vancouver indie scene, and Colin Sankey turns heads with his electric bass playing. Other artists of note include Richard Tichelman, who seems to get better and more confident with each gig (including TEDxSurrey Jan. 18) and album.
