Surrey-raised guitar whiz Daniel Sveinson is behind Band Together, a multi-band benefit concert for BC Children's Hospital Foundation on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver.

Last year, more than $7,000 was donated to the charity. This year, everyone involved would love to better that total during a Dromedary Productions-presented gig featuring Sveinson's prog-rock beast Brass Camel plus Space Queen, Badmny, Hyaenas, Cat Madden and Lunchtime Band.

"Come see this epic lineup of Vancouver talent and know all profits are going to a great cause," Sveinson says in a Facebook post on BC Musicians Network. Tickets sell for $29.54 on eventbrite.ca.

Seven years into it, Brass Camel slays with 70s-era sounds that riff on classic Rush, Queen, Styx and other prog-y bands. With fingers flying on fretboards, they really do perform some mind-blowing music.

Meantime, in the heart of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, the Rickshaw remains a go-to place for original bands, tributes and live-music parties including a return of The Black Halos (Jan. 25), an album-release concert by ska-punk band Los Furios (Feb. 1), a sold-out Black Mountain show (Feb. 15), Krystle Dos Santos playing the music of Sade of Valentine's Day, and more. Check out the theatre's busy calendar on rickshawtheatre.com.
