An event billed as "Surrey's newest holiday light festival" opened Thursday (Nov. 28) at Cloverdale Fairgrounds.
Until Dec. 23, Noel Holiday Light Festival & Market promises "a magical holiday experience" for all ages, with all activities and entertainment included in the price of admission — free for kids aged six and under, $15 for youth and seniors, and $20 for adults.
"The only additional costs are for food, beverages, merchandise and items purchased from the Christmas Market," says Jenna Kuzemski, owner and creative strategist of Lagoon Creative.
The inaugural fest features more than a million lights and a one-kilometre outdoor holiday light walk through the Fairgrounds, including a 150-foot “light tunnel” with illuminated objects.
Admission includes unlimited access to rides on a 50-foot ferris wheel (until Dec 19) and Berry-Go-Round and Bumper Cars (from Dec 20-23), live music and dance performances, photos with Santa and kids’ activities including face painting, crafts, rides on the Candy Cane Slide and balloon twisting.
Guests can also explore Santa’s Castle, Rudy’s Reindeer Stable, the Illuminated Playground, Bavarian Plaza and a lair for a “Green & Grumpy” guest.
For holiday food and beverages, visitors can hit Jack Frost’s LED Igloo Bar and access the Holly Jolly Hub for “a festive dining experience, offering food trucks, dining huts, and cozy fire pits."
Noel Surrey is open from 4 to 10:30 p.m. nightly from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1, Dec. 5 - 8 and from Dec. 12 - 23. Visitors can book the venue for private events of 150 or more guests.
"Noel Surrey is grateful to support its charitable partners and encourages attendees to donate to the Surrey Food Bank when they take photos with Santa, bring new toys to donate to Surrey Christmas Bureau and enter a 50/50 Raffle in support of the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society," Kuzemski added.
Noel light festivals have been previously held in Calgary (2019, 2020) and Milwaukee (2021).
Ending Monday (Dec. 2) is a "Black Friday sale" offering 20 per cent off tickets for Nov 29, 30 and Dec 1 and select weekdays including Dec 5, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18 and 19, on noelfestival.com.
