Spooktacular Newton: Event brings Halloween-related fun to 137 Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. "Complete with trick-or-treating, mini golf, haunted train rides, kid fun zone, face painting, food trucks, bouncy castles and games. Don’t miss the special dance performances by City Entertainment. Dreadworks Haunted Houses promises "immersive dark fantasy and cutting-edge horror" at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre until Nov. 3. The "scare experience" is a movies-inspired joint undertaking between Alexander J. Take It To the Limit tribute to the Eagles at Bell Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, Nov. 6, presented by Surrey-based Moon Coin Productions. Spooktacular Halloween Market returns for 7th season Saturday, Oct. 26 at Cloverdale Fairgrounds, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. "This energetic market is the biggest local Halloween Market around. They pack in loads of family fun and love being part of creating lasting Halloween memories. They feature over 100 vendor spaces in two buildings, balloon twisters, face painters, Halloween bounce house, a raffle and have expanded to include 6 food trucks."

Surrey Muse: Interdisciplinary art and literature presentation group meets on fourth Friday of each month except December (5:30-8:30 p.m.). Gatherings feature an author, a poet and an artist/performer at varying levels of artistic development, followed by an Open Mic session. Virtual gatherings continue for now.

Film Screening and Conversation: "A Time to Rise," 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Surrey Art Gallery, in connection with the art exhibit "Jagdeep Raina: Ghosts in the Fields."  A conversation between labour historian Anushay Malik and Assistant Curator Jas Lally to follow.
