What you should know about Surrey-Panorama
Like its immediate neighbour to the north (Surrey-Newton), Surrey-Panorama is a densely populated provincial riding within Newton which, like its neighbour, also elected an NDP MLA – Jinny Sims – in the past two provincial elections.
Sims is once again seeking office here, challenged for the seat by Conservative candidate Bryan Tepper and Freedom Party of B.C. candidate Paramjit Rai.
Tepper was originally the B.C. Conservative candidate in Surrey-White Rock but moved to the Surrey-Panorama riding after the collapse of the former B.C. United campaign, making way for incumbent MLA Trevor Halford (formerly of B.C. United) in Surrey-White Rock.
Surrey-Panorama's original Conservative candidate, Dupinder Kaur Saran, originally announced she would run as an independent in the riding but pulled out of the race on Sept. 27, announcing her endorsement for Sims instead.
Rai's bio says she's a "mom lioness when it comes to children and advocacy for their safety and security."
