A police watchdog has concluded its investigation into a RCMP-involved incident last month in South Surrey.

At about 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, Surrey RCMP's provincial operations support unit responded to a disturbance call at a residential building near 34 Avenue and 152 Street.

Once on scene, police located and detained one man, who reportedly had a weapon, under the Mental Health Act, according to a press release from the Independent Investigations Office of B.C., a civilian oversight agency of police in the province.

The man arrested sustained injuries during the police process and was taken to hospital for treatment, the IIO added.
