Person of interest ID'd in stranger sexual assault: Surrey RCMP

Surrey RCMP had asked for help identifying man in connection with a nighttime groping assault

The Surrey RCMP released a video on July 25 of the person of interest to help identify them and further the investigation. The video has since been made private.

Police in Surrey have identified "the person of interest" in connection to the sexual assault that occurred on July 20, when a woman reported being woken up by a man groping her.

"On July 27, 2024 the individual was identified and spoken to by investigators. Surrey RCMP has removed the video as the investigation continues," Sgt. Tammy Lobb said in a news release Tuesday (July 30). 

Surrey Mounties responded to a call at 3:15 a.m. of a sexual assault in the 14100 block of 91 Ave.

"The victim reported that she was woken up by a man groping her in her residence," said Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha in a previous news release. "The victim screamed for help, and the suspect fled."
