PHOTOS: Snowfall creates a winter wonderland in Surrey

Surrey, White Rock schools remained opened as snowfall created little reported havoc

Surrey got its first real blast of snowy, wintry weather this weekend.

Environment Canada said Monday (Feb. 3) that light flurries are expected Monday into Tuesday morning, with accumulations of up to 2 cm. The temperature is expected to drop overnight to -3˚C, with a wind chill of -10˚C.

A preliminary report from Environment Canada noted that by noon Sunday (Feb. 2), Vancouver International Airport had seen 3 cm of snow accumulation, while Downtown Vancouver saw 10 cm. Surrey was not included in the preliminary report.

Despite the snowfall, schools in Surrey and White Rock were open on Monday.
