Delta police have released CCTV images of the vehicle believed to have seriously injured a pedestrian in a hit-and-run Sunday morning (Jan. 26).
The crash happened at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of 66th Avenue and Scott Road in North Delta, according to a Delta Police news release.
Officers arrived to find a seriously injured man, but the vehicle and driver involved had left the scene. Scott Road was closed in both directions for several hours between Wade Road and 64th Avenue as analysts worked the scene, before reopening to traffic around 2:30 p.m.
The pedestrian is a 25-year-old Surrey man who suffered “serious and extensive” injuries, police say, and remains in hospital in critical but stable condition.
On Wednesday, investigators issued a call for the public's help in identifying the suspect vehicle, believed to be a black 2011 or 2012 Honda Accord four-door sedan. Police say the car received moderate damage to its front end from the collision.
Police say that, prior to the incident, the suspect vehicle dropped off two passengers at Strawberry Hill Shopping Centre. Investigators are looking to speak with those passengers, and are again appealing to the driver to contact the DPD.
"If you know the identity of this vehicle or driver, or have CCTV/dash camera video of this car from the morning of Jan. 26, please contact our investigators," the department said in Wednesday's updated press release.
